IB Math AI formula booklet

The official IB Mathematics: Applications & Interpretation formula booklet is provided in Papers 1, 2 and 3. Every cheatsheet here cross-references it — anything not listed in the booklet must be memorised, and we flag those explicitly. Download it from the official IB subject page.

Why students use these

What makes these IB Math AI HL cheatsheets different

There is plenty of free IB Math content online — much of it written for AA, not AI, or wildly inaccurate. These pages are built specifically for Applications & Interpretation HL.

Written by an IB-certified tutor

Mr Ejaz has taught IB Math for 15+ years across Singapore's top international schools. Every formula, trap and worked example is drawn from real student errors corrected hundreds of times.

Built for the GDC and modelling

AI is an applications course. These sheets show the exact GDC steps — regression, 1-variable stats, matrices, inverse normal, the finance solver — and the modelling judgement examiners actually reward.

Fast, mark-scheme-aware revision

One scrollable page per topic: formulas, TRICK shortcuts, red TRAP boxes drawn from examiner reports, a worked Paper-2-style example and an exam-attack plan mapping question cues to methods.

FAQ

IB Math AI HL frequently asked questions

A few questions IB students and parents in Singapore often ask about the AI HL course and these resources.

How many topics are in the IB Math AI HL syllabus?
Five themes — Number & Algebra, Functions, Geometry & Trigonometry, Statistics & Probability, and Calculus — split into about 26 topics across SL and the HL extensions (AHL). Every topic on this hub has its own free cheatsheet.
What is the difference between IB Math AI HL and AA HL?
AI (Applications & Interpretation) is modelling- and technology-focused: a graphical calculator is allowed on every paper and the emphasis is on real-world data, statistics, matrices, graph theory and Voronoi diagrams. AA (Analysis & Approaches) is more abstract and algebraic, with a no-calculator Paper 1. AI HL adds Paper 3 and the AHL topics of matrices, eigenvalues and Markov chains, graph theory and coupled differential equations.
Is a calculator allowed in IB Math AI HL?
Yes — a graphical display calculator (GDC) is allowed on all three AI papers. Marks are earned by choosing the right model and reading the answer correctly, so knowing your GDC's regression, statistics, matrix and finance menus is essential. Each cheatsheet flags the exact GDC steps.
Which IB Math AI HL topics are examined on Paper 3?
Paper 3 is HL-only: two extended, context-rich problem-solving questions worth 55 marks. It leans on the AHL applications — matrices and Markov chains, graph theory (spanning trees, Dijkstra, the travelling-salesman problem), complex numbers in AC circuits, and coupled or second-order differential equations.
Are these IB Math AI HL cheatsheets really free?
Yes — every topic page and its printable PDF are free, with no sign-up. The paid Lifetime Library adds full Notes, Tutorial booklets, mark-scheme-style Solutions and predicted-paper questions; enrolled Photon Academy students get it free.
