IP Tuition Singapore — Integrated Programme & IB DP Preparation

The Integrated Programme (IP) is a 6-year programme at select local schools in Singapore that allows students to skip the O-Level exam and proceed directly to the IB Diploma Programme. Schools offering IP to IB DP include ACS (Independent), Methodist Girls' School (MGS), St. Joseph's Institution (SJI), and SOTA (School of the Arts), which has its own arts-integrated 6-year curriculum leading to IB DP.

ACS (Independent), Methodist Girls' School (MGS), and St. Joseph's Institution (SJI) are the three MOE-listed schools offering the standard IP to IB DP track. SOTA (School of the Arts) has a distinct arts-integrated IP also leading to IB DP. All four schools' IP students benefit from specialist tuition during the IP years to ensure they are ready for IB DP Year 1.

IP students follow a school-designed internal curriculum without an external exam benchmark. This means content gaps can go undetected until IB Year 1, when the pace accelerates sharply. Students who appear to be performing well in IP sometimes discover significant gaps in IB Year 1 — early external tuition provides the benchmarking IP's assessment structure cannot.

SOTA's IP is an arts-integrated 6-year curriculum unique to the School of the Arts. Unlike the standard IP at ACS(I), MGS, and SJI, SOTA's curriculum is designed around the performing and visual arts while still leading to the IB Diploma. SOTA IP students typically balance intense arts commitments with academic demands — making structured external Maths and Science tuition particularly valuable.

Photon Academy offers IP tuition for Mathematics and Sciences — the subjects most critical for IB DP Year 1 readiness. Our tutors teach IP content with IB DP in mind, ensuring students develop both the procedural fluency and conceptual depth that IB Year 1 demands from the first lesson.

IP Maths at ACS(I), MGS and SJI is designed to lead into IB DP — the school's teachers are aware of IB requirements. However, without an external benchmark, some students reach IB Year 1 with foundations that feel solid in the IP context but are tested more rigorously in IB DP. Our IP tuition uses real IB DP questions from the IP years so there are no surprises in Year 11.

Group IP tuition is $480 for 4 lessons per month (1.5 hours each, max 4 students). 1-to-1 is $600 for 4 lessons. Fees are prorated, no hidden charges.

IP Year 3 or 4 (equivalent to Secondary 3–4) is the ideal time to start — two to three years before IB DP begins. This gives enough time to build strong foundations and introduce IB-style assessment practice progressively. Starting in IP Year 4 is still valuable, especially with targeted focus on identified gaps.

All four Singapore IP schools — ACS(I), MGS, SJI and SOTA — sit IB DP examinations in the November session, not May. This is different from most Singapore international schools which sit in May. It means IP students should use November past papers for preparation, and the May–June holiday in their final year is the ideal intensive revision window before October examinations begin.

Yes — and we actively recommend starting earlier. Beginning in IP Year 3 or 4 allows us to use real IB DP past papers to benchmark performance and identify content gaps years before IB Year 1 begins. Students who arrive at Year 11 already benchmarked against IB standards are significantly better prepared than those who start tuition only when school begins. This early-entry approach is one reason 100% of our ACS(I) and SJI students score 6 or 7.
